Position Summary

The Senior HVAC Engineer will lead a small group of engineers and designers to complete the full design of HVAC on a project for a confidential Government client.

  • Responsibilities include performing load calculations, pressure drop calculations, cost estimates, writing specifications, and responding to client requests through the Jacobs Project Manager.
  • Types of systems designed include chilled water systems, steam heating systems, and hot water heating systems, two/four pipe distribution systems, primary/secondary/tertiary pumping systems, geothermal systems, airflow/P&ID diagrams, direct digital control systems including control sequences, specialized air and fluid filtration systems, refrigerant based systems, constant and variable volume air-handling systems.
  • Ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional requirements, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements.



  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering required

  • 12+ years minimum experience working in an HVAC environment required

  • Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, P&ID/airflow diagrams and DDC control sequence generation, International Building Codes a required

  • Excellent writing skills required

  • PE License highly preferred

  • Working knowledge of DOE confinement zone ventilation systems or 3+ years of cleanroom design preferred

  • 8-12+ years experience in HVAC systems design preferred

  • Knowledge of Fire Protection and Plumbing a preferred

  • Industrial and DOE design experience highly preferred
