The Server Operation and Maintenance Lead is responsible for systems administration, operations, maintenance, and support for all USTRANSCOM networks. O&M will include servers (physical and virtual), firmware, operating systems, software applications, SANs, and computer security compliance. A robust server maintenance capability is required to ensure key and supporting services provided to the end user are reliable and available.

The Task Lead for Server Operation and Maintenance should have the following qualifications and demonstrated experience:
  • At a minimum possess applicable intermediate ITIL certification (e.g., Service Operations, Service Transition, Operational Support and Analysis (OSA))
  • Current MS Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification
  • IAT Level II certification per DoDi 8570 requirements (includes any of the following: Security+CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP)
  • Demonstrated experience providing overall enterprise-level network system administration, planning, and management
  • High degree of technical expertise with systems, servers, protocols, Windows/PC based client/server workstations and Server Administration.
  • Designing, managing, monitoring, and optimizing geographically dispersed networked systems
  • Supervising system administrators
  • Project management
  • Performing O&M and installing upgrades
  • Developing, implementing, and documenting network systems
  • Experience and/or working knowledge with the following:
    • VMware ESXi and View
    • MS Windows Server 2008, Active Directory, Exchange 2010, Outlook, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
    • SiteMinder
This position requires a Bachelors degree with 8 years of related experience or 12 total years of related experience. The following certifications are required:
  • ITIL intermediate certification in either Service Operations, Service Transition, or Operational Support and Analysis (OSA)
  • Current MS Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification

An active Top Secret Clearance is required.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.

Work Environment

Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.

Attendance

Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).

Other Essential Functions

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
