Provides technical support for instrumentation, measurement and data acquisition system activities at research test facilities. Interfaces with support teams in planning, organizing, implementing and executing responsibilities of related tasks complying with all test configuration requirements and as directed by the Test Engineer. Requires knowledge and skills in fabricating and assembling test dependent hardware and prototype designs from schematic prints and directed instructions. Prepares, manages, and operates instrumentation and data acquisition systems during testing of customer models in the test facility. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves measurement and data system issues for test and facility operational requirements. Manages and ensures all instruments and measurement equipment inventory complies with metrology requirements. Communicates with Facility and Test Engineers to discuss instrumentation issues and coordinate operations and development efforts.
May possess an A.A. / A.S. General Engineering, or other related military or vocational program with 5 or more years of related experience. Additional years of related experience may count as educational equivalency. Typically has specialized technical knowledge or experience related to job duties at a practical level with some theoretical knowledge. Experience with the maintenance and repair of temperature, pressure, and flow measuring devices; skill troubleshooting of instrument and control malfunctions and in selecting the proper corrective action. Possess wire/cable harness fabrication and component level soldering skills. ESD control training is preferred. Must have above average skills with basic computer operation and "office" applications software for operation of the data acquisition computer systems and generation of reports. Ability to comprehend, interpret and follow schematics and drawings. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineer or supervisor and use own judgment/decisions to allow continuity of work-flow. Must be self-motivated and a Team Player with good interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness. There are specific minimum physical, work-environment, and equipment requirements. This candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Essential Functions

Work Environment
1. Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
2. Work in confined, dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty, and greasy environment.
3. Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
4. Work with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented.
5. Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to safety and company rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements
1. Work from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, cranes, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
2. Must be able to become certified for confined space entry, fall protection, respirator, etc.
3. Work while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or prone for extended time periods.
4. Work in closely confined spaces.
5. Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available.

Equipment and Machines
1. Office and facility equipment includes computers, calculators, electronic instruments, test equipment, mechanical instruments and miscellaneous precision measuring devices.
2. Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hand and power tools.
3. A wide variety of measurement, diagnostic and calibration tools and equipment.
4. A variety of protective safety equipment and clothing.

Attendance
Test facility operations currently follow a compressed work schedule of 9-hour days Monday-Thursday and alternate 8-hour Fridays, all starting at 6:30 AM each morning. Overtime is frequently necessary to support meetings, test schedules, and test operations. A compressed work schedule is currently required for this position but may be alternate at the sole discretion of the company. Testing may occur any day or time of day depending on the schedule and test requirements. Regular daily attendance is required to maintain team effectiveness.

Other Essential Functions
Must be able to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to workplace facility.
