Director Financial Reporting

Jacobs Engineering is looking for a highly experienced Director Financial Reporting to assume a key role in the Company's Corporate Accounting Team.

  • Review and prepare SEC filings including 10-Q's, 10-K's and 8-K's in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Prepare quarterly earnings release
  • Conduct research and prepare associated memos for new and existing accounting standards as they apply to current or proposed transactions/processes using available research sources and on-line technology, as available, for FASB, SEC and other accounting pronouncements
  • Implement new standards within the business
  • Maintain adequate, auditable support for filings
  • Assist in responding to and coordinating replies to any SEC written or oral comments, coordinating with auditors/counsel as necessary
  • Responsible for reading, understanding, and following the applicable process narratives pertaining to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Develop and maintain an effective control environment over areas of responsibility
  • Ability to account for the Company's equity compensation plans and making associated SEC filings
  • Provide relevant compensation disclosures for the Company's Proxy Statement
  • Primary liaison with the Company's external auditors
  • Drive process improvement and identify opportunities for cost savings
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for financial reporting activities, and their continuous improvement process including automation and acceleration
  • Participate in cross functional projects and assist other functions with financial reporting and disclosure matters
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and analyses, as requested
  • All duties performed are in compliance with GAAP, Company policies and procedures, SEC reporting requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA required
  • Strong technical acumen and well versed in U.S. GAAP
  • Well-rounded technical financial skills, balanced with sound business judgment
  • Experience with a large ERP system required, Oracle preferred
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management required
  • Exposure to consolidations, currency translation, and international accounting and reporting issues
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience in a commercial business environment required
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and external auditors
  • Ability to work in a fast, dynamic environment, and prioritize competing priorities
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and controls
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and process improvement skills
