The team provides complete management of all technical support with a strong focus on Electrical support for multiple Sales projects, including engaging and coordinating inputs from key technical competencies such as Wind and Site, BoP Engineering and SCADA, during tenders and contract negotiations. We own and close out all technical annexures in turbine supply agreements. To be the single point of contact for all technical matters for Japanese, Korean and other North Asian regional customers and to be the Vestas expert on Japanese and Korean compliance and approval processes for Wind Power Plants, particularly in relation to electrical compliance.

  • Serve Customer Needs: Ensure bid requirements are understood and that the Vestas proposal complies with requirements while maximising value to the customer and Vestas. Understand customer drivers to make the right proposals. Understand compliance requirements and approval process and support customer accordingly throughout the approval process including METI Wind Farm approvals and Electricity Business Act in Japan
  • Support the customer on the technical specifications for the Electrical design of the wind farm and throughout the local Japanese wind farm approval processes.
  • Optimize projects: Working with Sales and other technical functions; optimize performance & cost variables to maximize Vestas' contribution margins and customer's project value.
  • Manage technical risk: Coordinate all technical sales support in the region of influence, ensuring that Technical Contract Reviews are performed according to internal processes ensuring an optimised while balanced risk managed contractual outcome.
  • Secure Order Intake: Support closure of deals by leading technical negotiations and providing solutions for technical deal breakers.
  • Connect R&D to the Markets: Input of Japanese and Korean market requirements to product roadmap and training of Sales/Customer with new product developments. Engage with local industry stakeholders on technical matters to ensure that Vestas products are best placed to serve the market

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil/Structural) is Essential
  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Commerce would be well regarded
  • Must have experience in contract negotiations and deal closure, ideally of heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar
  • 5 years' experience in a technical sales support and/or Civil/Structural Engineering role including managing technical bids of heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar preferred
  • Experience in the electricity generation sector in Japan
  • Experience in wind industry is essential.
  • Understanding of METI requirements, Guidelines for Design of Wind Turbine Support Structures and Foundations, and Japanese Wind Farm approval process would be very highly regarded

  • Broad technical engineering knowledge as well as specialist wind and site engineering knowledge
  • Background in technical sales role within the wind, heavy equipment, construction or related industry
  • Holistic understanding of commercial and legal aspects of technical solutions
  • Ability to understand customer drivers and complement it with appropriate technical solutions
  • Negotiation abilities and contract acumen are essential
  • Ability to work internationally predominantly in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work remotely with little supervision while being able to effectively operate within an international cross-functional team
  • Intermediate MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate CAD

This position requires domestic international travel within the region, often at short notice.
