npower are keen to recruit a Web Design into their expanding Digital team, based in Solihull. This role will have 2 direct reports and be hired on a full time contract, the role may also require occasional travel to other npower sites.

Main Purpose Of Job The Web Design Lead is responsible for designing and executing leading web design across npowers digital platforms in support of our strategy to be the most digitised energy company, made possible through npowers investment in Digital technology.

Responsible for defining the digital style guide for Domestic, Energy Services, SME and I&C, the role holder will utilise expert knowledge of the latest trends in web design to continuously evolve the look and feel of our digital platforms across npowers websites, social media platforms, apps and devices.

As a direct report to the Digital Optimisation Manager, the Web Design Lead is responsible for managing a team of 2 x Web Designers plus resource pools externally to npower, through contractors and third party suppliers. Accountable for the development and evolution of the Digital Design Style guide you will produce, develop and maintain the governance of page templates, icons, images and font size to ensure that digital content is accessible and renders at a high standard across the most commonly used devices and browser types.

The role holder will be required to engage with the Digital Programme and Development teams as well as working closely with the User Experience manager and the Digital Content Manager to define the visual element of our digital experience for major projects within the Digital programme.

As a member of the wider Digital Optimisation team, the role holder is required to collaborate with the managers of the Digital Optimisation functions to define processes, governance and ways of working to ensure activity is aligned effectively to enable a performance and KPI driven approach.

Key responsibilities Accountable for delivering web designs and concepts such as landing pages, page templates, promotional banners, homepage designs plus design guidelines and specifications.

Managing a team of digital web design specialists, locally and core to npower and more broadly across third party suppliers. Setting up effective processes and working practices to ensure success.

Collaborating with the Digital Editorial Manager and User Experience Manager to develop design concepts for projects within the Digital programme alongside a continuous programme of improvement for all existing site content to drive high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsible for the delivery of all Web Design including ownership of npowers Digital brand guidelines, style guide, template library and iconography, providing a clear framework for the deployment of digital capability enabled through the Digital strategy investment.

Knowledge and Skills Degree qualified, withexperience as a Web Designer, Graphic Designer or similar role working with high traffic retail websites

Knowledge of designing digital content for large corporate responsive websites, mobile apps and social media sites.

Experience with working with Adobe Photoshop CS3+, Illustrator, Adobe Flash mx/CS2+ desirable

A strong Customer and Commercial orientation recognising opportunities for the business whilst driving key metrics and sustained financial contribution.

Knowledge of user-centered design principles, defining site architecture and navigation, heuristic analysis, wire framing and prototyping desirable

Strong people management skills with experience of managing in-house web design resources and outsourced resources via third parties to deliver key business goals

Significant experience in managing third party suppliers to defined budget and performance standards

Proficient user of Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop.

Outstanding communication skills in email, copywriting, presentation, and verbal.
