Craftsman Jointer
Salary: £27,500
Location: Based in Burton upon Trent, with travel around the surrounding area
E.ON is a global provider of specialised energy solutions. We're also an important trader in global commodities, working hard to make the best deals possible for our worldwide business and, ultimately, our customers.
We operate one of the largest streetlight contracting businesses in the UK, with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK's housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas. We're not stopping there though: we're now implementing a major new initiative to expand the operation. As part of it, we're looking for enthusiastic, hard-working Jointers to join our team.
Organised and efficient, you'll be helping install LV services to streetlights and other highway assets, as well some domestic properties. Safety is our priority in all these activities, so as well as being first aid qualified, it's essential you have experience of assessing risks and working according to strict safety guidelines.
It's an outdoor role that will often be physically demanding, so it's vital you're trained for it. That means you'll need to be qualified as a Jointer.  It's also vital you're authorised to work on at least one UK DNO network, ideally Electricity North West. Previous experience of the street lighting industry, including operating machinery and working on the highway would be an advantage.

Key Skill Requirements:
  • Electrical qualification C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 / 2330 Level 2 & 3 (see the craft matrix as detailed in the ES Agreement)
  • Relevant authorisation to carry out service connections to DNO/IDNO networks
  • An appropriate NVQ (e.g. C&G 6156) or equivalent qualification in highway excavation and reinstatement
  • A current NRSWA qualification (Units 1-9)
  • An appropriate G39 qualification
  • A current full driving licence to drive vehicles up to 7500Kg (C1) or C (HGV)
  • A current and relevant First Aid and Manual Handling certificate
  • A high degree of manual dexterity and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A good understanding of the Highways Lighting business
  • A good working knowledge of company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
  • The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • The ability to take a professional, courteous, confident and diplomatic approach to customers at all times
  • A CSCS accreditation via the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) is preferred
