About

An employer to feel good about
We’re not just one of the UK’s biggest energy companies. As the country’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity, EDF Energy is a business that’s all about building a better, brighter future. That’s why we’re rising to the challenges posed by climate change, increased demand, rising prices and energy security with plans to transform the UK energy landscape.

To drive change for the better, we need to offer a service that combines affordability, efficiency, security and sustainability, through all of our business areas including support functions and customer services. But it’s not all down to big, business-defining projects. We also run one of the biggest environmental and social programmes going, with time given to championing sustainability, helping vulnerable customers and supporting local communities. And that’s something we can all feel good about.

More than meets the eye
Although we’re a major player in the energy sector, there’s much more to a career here than engineering. As well as power station opportunities, we offer field-based roles, contact centre jobs and careers in our London head office.

Diversity & Inclusion
Our push to improve doesn’t stop at striving to bring affordable, low-carbon energy to everyone in the UK. We also want to be a better business. And that means hiring the very best people for the job – regardless of their background, race, sexuality, gender or physical ability.

You see, we believe that diverse, inclusive teams make for a stronger business. The different viewpoints, skills and experiences each of us brings to work make for a more informed approach and a real richness of ideas. All of which results in a real competitive edge and higher performances all round. A diverse workforce also helps us reflects the communities we work in, which is something that’s really important to us.

In fact, Diversity & Inclusion is central to how we see ourselves. It affects the suppliers we work with and how we interact with our customers. And it’s not just something we pay lip service to. As well as a broad range of active and influential employee networks we have a culture of inclusion training. That means each of our managers has the resources they need to support a diverse team.

We don’t limit diversity initiatives to management training though. We also hold educational company-wide Diversity Days and embrace network-driven initiatives like events for Black History month, LGBT History Month, International Women’s Day and International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to name a few. Add to that a regular presence at Brighton Pride and a genuine commitment to equal pay and opportunities and you can see why we’re one of only four organisations to be awarded a Diversity Works for London Gold Standard.
