Senior Geologist: London

Capable of independent work and management of geological projects you’ll have an ability to solve unusual problems and confident of tapping in to expert resources across the organisation.  Competence in the key geological skill areas with capability in one or more specialist skill areas you must have an appreciation and understanding of the full cycle of oil field development with a working knowledge of integrated projects, uncertainty, risk and oilfield economics. 

Current location you would need to be based in the UK  .

Key aspects of the role include

• Carry out geological studies independently

• Independent application of key and specialist petroleum geology skills

• Develop geological workflows

• Manage geological projects and lead the geological element of integrated projects

• Provide geological peer review/assist support to Senergy projects globally

• Work within Senergy QA/QC procedures

• Support the development of less experienced Geologists

You’ll need a  degree in geology and an MSc in Petroleum Geology or a relevant PhD.  Alongside this you will need:

• Competent or skilled in key areas of petroleum geology:

1. Stratigraphic interpretation using logs

1. Understanding of depositional environments

1. Understanding of petroleum systems

1. Reservoir characterisation using logs

1. Volumetric estimation

1. Risking

• Expert skills in a specialist area of geology, e.g.:

1. Geocellular modelling

1. Basin modelling

1. Carbonate geology

1. Carbon capture

1. Field development

1. Unconventional hydrocarbons e.g. coalbed methane, shale oil, tight gas

• Able to scope, manage and/or carry out complex geological analyses independently

• Able to operate independently in a Senergy or client environment

• Able to deliver technical presentations to Senergy staff and to clients

• Capable of solving unusual problems

• Able to mentor and coach less-experienced Geologists to a high technical standard

As a Senior Geologist may develop specialist technical skills and/or a role in contributing to business management, operations and business development.
