1.     DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS

The Head of Concept Group is responsible for managing and developing the Concept Group. The Head of Concept Group shall also ensure that Concept Group objectives are clearly defined and communicated and that all work is performed to a satisfactory high standard and that specific work tasks are performed safely, effectively and in compliance with the specified objectives.

 


 

2.     RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall management of the Concept Group

-Manage the resources of the Concept Group ensuring resources and study projects are allocated effectively.

-Development of short term and long term forecasts/plans of the concept business and resource requirements

-Regular reporting of the Concept Group performance to the General Manager

-Lead, develop, mentor and appraise junior personnel

(i) With a core discipline, the Head of Concept Group shall also act as a Consultant

within the Concept Group as required:

-Perform and manage concept & select study projects

-Understand client requirements and be able to deliver concept solutions to the required level of engineering and definition

-Complete quality work within budget and time scales

 

(ii) Assist as part of the business winning team to bring in work to the Concept Team,

Wood Group Frontier and Wood Group as a whole.

 

-Drive the development of business development material for use in marketing and tendering

-Meet and engage with clients to present and offer services and develop business relationships

-Manage the generation and issue of proposals

-Seek opportunities for new and further work

 

(iii) Participate in recruitment activities

-Identify resource shortfall requirements

-Identify suitable applicants

-Interview and recommend suitable applicants

-Negotiate terms with suitable applicants

- Application of company processes and procedures

-Implementation and application of corporate processes and procedures throughout the Concept Group

-Assist in developing existing or generating new processes and procedures as required

-Ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures

 

(iv)          Any other duties as required and mutually agreed

 

3. AUTHORITY

Functional

-Approving promotions and salary rises of personnel within the CSG

- Allocation of the CSG resources

- Approval of vacation requests

- As consultant: for generating, checking and issuing project documents, company procedures, proposals and business development material

- As project manager: for approving project documentation


 

Commercial

-Approving purchase orders for subcontractors and suppliers (per WG Policy)

-Approving proposals for issue (per WG Policy)

-Approval of training requests (per WG Policy)

-Approving new appointment offers

-Approving project invoices as required

-Customers

-Subcontractors (as required)

-Concept Team

-Other Internal Departments (as required/appropriate)

-Other WG companies (as required/appropriate)

5. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Degree qualified in engineering with 15+ years experience. Should preferably possess:

-Industry track record in successful delivery of concept and field development solutions

-Experience in major operator development gates and approval/selection process and requirements

-Experience in developing CAPEX, OPEX and schedule estimates of field developments

-Ability to understand and work across disciplines

-Dynamic character with innovative problem solving abilities

-Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team

-Strong business development skills

-Ideally with some operator experience

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-Good organisational skills
