Senior Systems Engineer - HVDC - Renewables - Canada Senior Systems Engineer required for a pivotal role within a global Power Systems Company based in Manitoba, Canada looking to build out their Renewables (Wind) team. The successful candidate will have had extensive hands -on engineering experience working alongside other very skilled engineers to provide optimal transmission solutions to existing power grids either in an onshore or an offshore capacity. Technical knowledge will span Power Systems Studies through to FACTS and HVDC. The technical experience in place at the company, however, means that anyone with a strong electrical background in the Wind industry would be considered as HVDC training can be provided. The successful candidate will have built a reputation within their companies for engineering excellence not only on and team basis but individually as well. Whilst being based in Canada you will also need to be available to travel with projects currently being undertaken in Brazil, Korea and the Middle East. This is not just engineering opportunity but one in which you can take a step in your career to build out an entire Wind Energy Solutions team with the overall challenge to provide the optimal solution to the market. The role will see you develop expertise in HVDC transmission, both the conventional line commutated-converter (LCC) and the voltage source converter(VSC) HVDC understanding how viable these options can be interconnecting to the grid. Extensive use of FACTS devices and sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) will also make up your role - again these are desired skills but training is provided across the business. Financial reward and benefits are readily available for the successful candidate.
