It is an exciting time at Atkins, and as a result, we are looking for civil and structural engineers with the relevant level of experience with a flair for technical delivery to join our growing nuclear civil & structural team based West Cumbria.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects and to develop technical and project skills through targeted training and continual professional development.

• Good Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline (Masters level preferred)
• A good level of previous engineering design experience is essential. This should include analysis of structures and detail design of elements in all major materials.
• Experience of dynamic and seismic design would be beneficial although not essential.
• Good standard of written English and the ability to write clear technical reports.
• An acceptable level of previous engineering experience including design.
• Experience of highly regulated UK industries would be beneficial plus an understanding of relevant legislative standards Y
• You will be driven to meet targets, and have a high level of commercial awareness and will have demonstrated the ability to work within budget and programme 
• Highly motivated and proactive, with an entrepreneurial spirit
• Skilled at collaborative working, have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively. 
• Customer focused and a high level of relationship management skills
• Flexible and prepared to take on new challenges

• To provide technical input into the delivery of projects from inception to handover on time and cost.
• To lead small teams of less senior Engineers and Technicians in the technical desin of projects and the delivey of calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• To liaise with members of other technical disciplines within the design team.
• To support client management through involvement in bidding and winning projects.
• To assist is the successful delivery of projects
• Liaise with and support other projects within the Cumbria office, and also across the wider UK home and international markets.
