Control Room Operator / Operations Technician - Utilizing SCADA - Birmingham A leading player in the Waste Management Sector seeks an experienced SCADA Technician/Control Room Operator/Operations Technician to join them on their new Anaerobic Digestion plant in the Birmingham area. With the Plant now fully operational this is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the UK's largest AD facilities, in a area which is becoming increasingly popular, due to the move away from traditional Landfill sites here in the UK. The Role: To efficiently assist the day to day operations of a new Anaerobic Digestion plant, which will be a 24/7 operation (shift pattern is 4 days on/off, alternating 12 hours day and night), controlling the flow and processing of waste, sludge and effluents by using the Control Room based SCADA Control systems. You will be responsible for diagnosing operating problems and undertaking necessary corrective action. An analytical mind is requirement as you will be monitoring gauges, meters and control panels, using your judgement and experience to make adjustments to the process based on data analysis and interpretation. You will be responsible for the operation of pumps, engines and generators to ensure the safe and continuous running of the plant operations, communicating any problems to the maintenance / management team and at the same time keeping accurate, detailed records of all plant settings, output and PPM requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance and contributing to continuous improvement in productivity and plant availability. The Person: Educated to a minimum of GCSE, or equivalent, in Maths and English the successful candidates will also need to demonstrate a strong analytical mind, with an NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent in an engineering discipline. Prior experience in a Control Room/ Plant Operations role within a continuous process environment is essential. Due to the new nature of the technology involved prior experience in the Composting / Green Waste / Food Waste / Water Treatment / Power Generation / Waste to Energy/ Energy from Waste sectors would be desirable.
