SENIOR OVERHEAD LINE DESIGN ENGINEER - LONDON Job Description To assist in the completion of projects with respect to design issues and to produce effective design solutions, providing technical support to Overhead line engineers, project engineers, site engineers, and clients. To liaise closely with the head of design, other senior design engineers and internal/external customers ensuring project, programme and budgetary controls at all times. Responsibilities *Manage day to day overhead line design activities, liaising closely with the Head of Design. *To liaise with staff and provide effective design solutions to design projects. *Develop specific design processes, policy and training manuals. *Liaise regularly with other engineers and technicians to maximise productivity. *Review, develop, encourage and train engineering staff. *To assist in the provision of technical advice and support to personnel and clients. *Review resource levels regularly, reporting deficiencies and possible solutions to the head of design. *Maintain effective communication and undertake any necessary correspondence with both internal and external clients. *Attend and contribute to regular project briefings, team meetings and design review meetings with engineers and/or technicians where necessary. *To work within established Company policies and procedures. *To undertake any engineering related duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs. *Provide PLS CADD and PLS TOWER training to engineering staff and to review PLS CADD and TOWER models. Qualifications & Requirements *Excellent people and project Management skills. *Flexible approach and ability to cope with changing demands and priorities. *Expert in the use of PLS CADD and PLS TOWER. *Excellent negotiation Skills. *Detailed knowledge of OHL design. *Detailed knowledge of current OHL design specifications. *Appreciation of mechanical design and systems, geotechnical data and specialist foundations. *Understanding of construction and design processes. *Effective project programming and management. *Extensive experience in a Transmission design office would be advantageous. *Gained or working towards engineering chartership. *B.Eng or BSc in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
