Quality Engineer

Purpose of Job (briefly summarise the main purpose of the job):

• Work with cross-functional plant team to improve the management of Non- Conforming Material and ensuring good control.
• Interact routinely with Production, Plant Quality, Customer Quality, SQM, Purchasing, Suppliers and Customers to actively control component quality and support improvement initiatives.
• Internal and external plant and supplier audits to VDA6.3 and TS16949 standards.
• Customer and supplier 8-d analysis, tracking and facilitation

Main Duties:

• Develop and maintain NCM key activities and performance measures/reporting.

-       Management of NCM quarantine crib / facilities - 5S adherence

-       Timely and accurate recording, despatch and disposal of NCM

-       Carryout SAP transactions

-       Manage NCM deliverables -  KOI’s, KPI’s

-       Track, facilitate meetings, lead analysis for Customer and supplier concerns and 8-d closures

Customer NCM Activities

• Log, store and dispose of customer NCM returns
• Support analysis of customer NCM returns
• Support analysis of warranty NCM returns
• Support customer sort activities as appropriate
• Lead Customer concern investigations and resolution

Internal NCM Activities

• Support internal NCM activities – scrap, rework & sort activities
• Support Internal problem solving activities (5Y’s)

Supplier NCM Activities

• Manage Supplier NCM and quarantine activities.

-       Raise Supplier NCM notifications

-       Support supplier cost back activities

-       Arrange timely disposition of supplier returns

-       Manage supplier quarantine area – 5S, timely disposition, efficient data management (SAP)

• Manage supplier containment activities

Purchasing SQM Support

• Support SQM to minimise supplier concerns through effective containments and countermeasures
• Log supplier 8d responses
• Support SQM to drive timely and effective 8D responses from suppliers
• Support SQM to capture Supplier spend recovery
• Support SQM with supplier escalation activities

Essential

• 2 – 3 years quality experience gained within the automotive industry
• Good customer / supplier knowledge and experience of customer specifics / requirements
• Problem solving experience (exposure to 5 Why or 8D process)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, 5S, Waste reduction
• Computer Literate – Microsoft Office
• Experience in developing quality documentation (ie) Control Plans, Work Instructions, Quality Alerts and Care Points etc.
• Able to communicate at all levels
• Experience of carrying out data driven improvements (Exposure to KPI’s and action plans)
