Salary up to £40,000 basic, bonus, car, pension, phone, laptop and 28 days holiday


Established well over 50 years ago, my client designs, manufacturers and distributes capital equipment which is sold directly to Food, Dairy and Drinks OEM's throughout the world. With a strategic decision to diversify their business they are looking to organically increase their turnover by £6m over the next five years and as a result of this, they now need to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer from within the Food, Dairy or Drinks Equipment sector.


The vacancy is open to field or internal capital sales professionals with a proven track record in selling capital equipment into the Food, Dairy and Drinks market sector. Candidates with international work experience with a Mechanical Engineering qualification will be strongly desired although this is not a prerequisite.



The role of the Technical Sales Engineer - Food Sector will be as follows:

1. Reporting to the Sales & Commercial Director, 80% of your role will be office based and 20% spent visiting customers throughout the world
2. You will be responding to incoming enquiries from Food, Food Packaging and Drinks companies throughout the world
3. The role is 90% reactive however over the course of the next 24 months the role will become more proactive and move into more of a field based position
4. You will be working very heavily on specifications and be responsible for product selections by ensuring both the technical and commercial criteria on the specification has been met
5. Costing and price negotiations will be a key aspect of the role
6. Cross selling the after sales department to global food manufacturers
7. Following up on quotations and maximising all sales
8. New business development
9. Project management



Experience and background:

1. A proven track record in selling capital equipment / turnkey solutions into the Food, Dairy & Drinks sector
2. You must be based on patch and willing to travel around and willing to travel internationally when required
3. The ideal candidate will possess a formal Engineering qualification although this is not essential
4. Candidates who have sold Filling Machines, Packaging Machines, Labelling Machines, Food Process Engineering Solutions, Bottling Equipment, Pasteurisers, Storage Tanks and Depalletisers will be highly considered
