Our client's UK-based Environmental Policy and Economics team provides policy, technical and economic advice on the development of environmental policy and business response to policy at a strategic level. They deliver a wide variety of challenging, high profile and cutting edge projects for clients including the European Commission, ECHA, UK and other national Governments and key private sector organisations.

They have ambitious plans to consolidate and build upon their current position as leading advisors on environmental policy and are seeking two individuals to supplement their existing team.

Their work directly affects the development and implementation of policy in the UK, EU and beyond. They have a long track record and an exciting portfolio of contracts including the recent re-award of several major framework contracts on policy development at an EU and UK level. This is an opportunity to join one of the top consultancies involved in supporting development and implementation of European and national policy in the following areas: climate change, including mitigation and adaptation, air quality and emissions with specific focus on the power sector, industry, all forms of transport and other sectors, chemicals risk management, water and waste & resources.

You could also be working with major corporate clients, helping to develop and implement their strategic response to key policies in the above areas. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams, providing technical contributions to projects including evaluation of technical and policy measures; cost-benefit analysis / socio-economic analysis; policy development and implementation; information collection and analysis; and model development. You will also support development of proposals for new projects.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Technical contributions to projects.
Covering evaluation of technical and policy measures; cost-effectiveness analysis; cost-benefit analysis; policy analysis and implementation at a UK and EU level; policy research; information collection; data analysis/modelling. Policy areas include climate change, air quality, chemicals, water, waste and resources.
Proposal development. Support to bid managers by undertaking research and support work in above policy areas.

 

BA/BSc Hons degree (or equivalent) Science, economics or engineering

MSc Environmental technology or policy

Experience:
You will have -
Post graduate experience – Not essential, although previous proven experience would be preferable in environmental consultancy; environmental policy development; analysis of technical and policy measures for achieving environmental objectives; and/or quantification of costs and benefits. 
Technical capability – evaluation of technical and policy measures for achieving environmental objectives; cost-benefit analysis; policy analysis at a national and European level.
Policy experience related to at least one of the above policy areas would be preferable, as would knowledge of sectors affected by these policies.
Strong mathematical / quantitative modelling capability would be of benefit and excellent written and spoken English is a requirement
