Quality Manager - Nuclear

My client are a national & international organisation that, amoungst other things, provide support in the nuclear industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Manager for a very high profile and prestigious, nuclear project. The work involves the assembly of large modules to quality standards using stainless steel pipework and vessels on a programme likely to extend to July 2013.
We urgently need a suitably qualified and experienced Quality Manager possessing first hand experience of stainless steel pipework fabrication and installation; preferably with some experience of nuclear build quality experience.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Typical background and experience would be fitting, welding, NDE &/or QC inspection of nuclear stainless plant & equipment, QA auditor/lead auditor. Recent experience in a similar role as a Quality Manager or QA/QC Engineer is essential. Ideally, the candidate will have strong leadership skills and possessing the competency, confidence, drive and determination to:

* Manage and support the QC workforce;
* manage the required project and business outturns;
* ensure compliance;
* promote continuous improvement;
* ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

* Thorough grounding in engineering and construction.
* ISO 9001, BS EN ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 accreditation.
* Understanding of Quality Management systems and principles.
* Management of Non-conformances.
* Regulatory compliance.
* Thorough understanding of current health, safety and environmental legislation (including CDM 2007), approved codes of practice and relevant standards.
* Experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
* Nuclear site experience and knowledge would be advantageous

Person:

* Good Basic Education (minimum of 5 GCSE's Grades A-C or equivalent)
* HND, HNC or equivalent (NVQ 4) in Engineering and/or Construction (Lower qualification will be considered if supported by relevant experience and performance supported by evidence and references.)
* Recognised and applicable Honours Degree or Masters Degree would be desireable
* Membership (or aspirant) of relevant Institution - CQI Dip. Q (formerly IQA) would be beneficialQualified & current auditor
