Quality Engineer required Location: Dalgety Bay, Fife, Scotland Salary: 25000 to 35000 depending on experience Heil Europe are an internationally renowned company within the refuse collection industry. For almost thirty years, Heil Europe has built on its engineering and manufacturing know-how to produce refuse collection vehicles for the UK and European markets. Position Overview To support the business as Quality Engineer and to take the lead role in further enhancing our Quality Management System ensuring provision of high quality product to our customers. Main Responsibilities Constantly promote all continuous improvement activities. Play a lead role in the development and guide the continued execution of the Heil Europe Quality Management System. Final inspection of product prior to delivery to customer. Effectively communicate conformance and improvements to ISO9001 Conduct internal audits including ISO. Participate and where appropriate take the lead in Lean activities. Participate in and where appropriate take the lead in kaizen events. Conduct 5S + Safety audits and assist with development programs to improve safety. Inspect, weigh and book incoming Chassis. Using the Quality Management System data, target improvement activities for Heil Europe products and processes to improve customer satisfaction both internal and external. Participate in and lead Development of strong sustainable improvements to processes both manufacturing and transactional. Create and implement ever improving electronic information via the Quality Management System intranet via Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure compliance with all company policies. Desired Applicant Your primary role will be to identify and communicate suggestions for work improvements and will use technical/analytical abilities to ensure existing work practices are the most efficient and cost effective available. You will maintain the highest ethical and work standards, while promoting the same attributes in contemporaries, business partners and vendors. A sense of urgency will be applied to resolve problems and create opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. You will be able to express thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing, using good grammar and will be able to present concise, well organised reports. You will possess the ability to work with other employees in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork. You will demonstrate a sound balance between quality and quantity of work whilst maintaining a sense of urgency toward completion - deadlines must be met. Your primary interaction will be with Quality Team Personnel, Director of Operations and other senior staff including Production Management and supervisors, along with the entire manufacturing operations personnel. Qualifications Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering, appropriate level of experience combined with lesser or alternative qualifications may be sufficient. Essential skills/experience Strong practical skills particularly within an ISO9001 environment, Continuous Improvement activities and Lean principles. Desirable but not essential Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt. Thorough working knowledge of analytical software such as Minitab and IGrafix and the full compliment of Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access. Experience with Pro-E, AutoCAD, and/or other CAD software would be an advantage. Supervision Works to and meets deadlines with minimum supervision while implementing clearly communicated corporate strategy and goals. Must work on own initiative and constantly support the company mission.
