CHP Service (Project) Engineer (Manchester home base or surrounding area) to £28,000 + company vehicle. Join a small but expanding energy consultancy that maintains a range of installed (CHP) combined heat & power units which are typically gas driven generators that feed back waste heat to clients boiler plant and Biomass heating solutions. They are now supplying new units and winning new energy service contracts as well as supplying refurbished plant (control panels, pumps, motors etc). They have just won a service contract for 6 units in N Wales and need a CHP/Generator service engineer from a Manchester base to maintain these units whilst being proactive in gaining new business for their services and respond to others sites on a national basis as the need arises. Company have offices in Dublin & SW England and look to expand their coverage North of the Midlands which is why this position has arisen. To be successful you will be mechanically biased to work on engines but with electrical experience to work on modern control systems both on the engine and the control panel & more importantly, someone who can work safely on electrical plant in a safe and competent manner, those who have maintained CHP units will be at an advantage but experience of maintaining generators (gensets) fuelled by gas is equally important. It is expected that you will not be fully utilised in servicing & maintaining CHP & Biomass systems initially which is why the role has the added content to be proactive in gaining new business opportunities from a 3rd party maintenance perspective targeted at existing installation that are coming to a ten year life cycle.
